Budgam-Katra Special Express resumes, no more changing at Banihal | KNO

Jammu, Aug 31 (KNO): In a significant step towards passenger convenience and strengthening rail connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir, Jammu Division has successfully resumed the operation of Train No. 04688/04687 Budgam - Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra - Budgam Special Express with effect from 29th August 2026. With the resumption of this train, passengers travelling from the Kashmir Valley to Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, especially pilgrims, have got great relief. Earlier, passengers had to change trains at Banihal, which caused inconvenience, but now with the availability of a direct train from Budgam to Katra, their journey has become smooth as well as time-saving. Since its resumption, the train has been receiving an overwhelming response from passengers. Passengers at Budgam, Srinagar, Anantnag, Qazigund, Banihal, Sangaldan, Reasi and Katra stations have welcomed this decision. Passengers told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the direct rail service will not only save their time and money, but will also provide them with a comfortable and safe travel experience. Many passengers specifically appreciated the Vistadome coach available in this train, which offers a 360-degree view of the picturesque Kashmir Valley. On this occasion, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal said, "The resumption of the Budgam-Katra Special train is an important decision taken on the demand of passengers. Its operation has been running successfully since 29th August, and we are getting very positive feedback from passengers. Jammu Division is always committed to passenger convenience and a better travel experience." Jammu Division is committed to passenger convenience, Singhal said, adding that the positive response and appreciation from passengers is an encouragement for us. The SDCM said the Division will continue to expand such passenger-friendly services in future as per passenger load and demand—(KNO)
